Basketball Stars is the game that started MadPuffers' run of sports games. Two big-headed players, one hoop each, and a match that is over in a couple of minutes. It has a tournament against the computer and a two-player mode on one keyboard, and the special shots make every game a little ridiculous.

The controls are simple enough to learn in one game, but the fakes and the timing of a block reward practice.

How to Play Basketball Stars

1. Pick single player or two players and choose your player.
2. Dribble toward the basket, fake to get the defender in the air, then shoot or dunk.
3. Block and steal on defense.
4. Score more than your opponent before the clock ends.

Controls

• Player 1: WASD to move, B to shoot or block, S to pump fake, V for the special shot.
• Player 2: Arrow keys to move, L to shoot or block, Down to pump fake, K for the special shot.
• Touch: on-screen buttons.

Tips and Tricks

• Drive to the rim rather than shooting from distance; layups and dunks miss less.
• Fake once, then go. Two fakes give the defender time to reset.
• Jump for a block only when the shooter has committed; jumping early is a free basket.
• Play the clock at the end of a match: holding the ball with a lead is allowed.
