4th and Goal 2022 is the 2022 edition of the 4th and Goal series, the long-running browser football game from Glowmonkey. It is a full game of football played from a side-on view: you pick a play from the playbook, snap the ball, and then it is all keyboard. Your quarterback drops back, receivers run their routes, and you choose whether to throw to one of them or tuck it and run.

The 2022 edition sharpened the animation and the computer's play-calling. Defenders read the run better, which makes the passing game matter more than it did in earlier years.

How to Play 4th and Goal 2022

Choose a play from the playbook shown before each down.
Press Space to snap. On offense, move with the arrow keys; throw to a receiver with the A, S or D key that matches his marker.
On defense, Space switches you to the player nearest the ball and the arrows move him toward the carrier.
Score more than the computer in four quarters to win, then move on through the season or tournament.

Controls

Arrow keys: move the player you control.
Space: snap the ball on offense, switch player on defense.
A, S, D: throw to the receiver marked with that letter.

Tips and Tricks

Look at the defense before you snap. If the corners are pressed up, a deep route will come open.
A quarterback scramble is your best play on third and short; the computer defense is slow to close on it.
On defense, do not switch players too early. Let the computer's tackler get close, then take over for the hit.
Kick the field goal when the drive stalls inside the 30. Points are points.
